safarullah-

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A driver was fined Rs 500 for driving his auto without helmet. The incident happened at Balaramapuram in Thiruvananthapuram. The driver protested by driving his auto with a helmet for the strange fine imposed.

The police’ strange action is against his auto KL20R 6843. Safarullah was fined Rs 500 by the traffic police for driving his vehicle without wearing a helmet. He got the chellan to pay the fine on December 3 last year. The incident happened before the AI camera was installed. The traffic police imposed the fine in person. He did not pay the fine thinking that it could be a mistake from the side of the police. Safarullah decided to protest wearing a helmet when he got the notice for the further action to be taken.

Safarullah also complained that the police misbehave with auto drivers in general. The auto is owned by Shemir, a native of Balaramapuram. Meantime, the Balaramapuram police said that the challan was not issued by them. There was no response from the traffic unit when called them. The unofficial explanation said that it could be a clerical problem. The fine will be ignored if a complaint is filed.
