THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Renjith, the owner of the sound set, came forward responding after a case was registered by the police for malfunctioning of the mic during Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s speech at the commemoration meet of Oommen Chandy. While talking to a media, Renjith said that he had not interrupted chief minister’s speech deliberately and it was disrupted only for ten seconds.

It was interrupted after people hit the cable during his speech. He said such technical problems are quite common. His microphone and amplifier are in the custody of the police. They said that it would be returned after a detailed examination, added Renjith.

Renjith said that he has been working in this field for the last seventeen years and during this time he has given the mic to the programmes of many including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. He added that this kind of 'mic howling' has happened before but this is the first time that a case has been registered.
The incident related to the case happened during the commemoration meet organized by the KPCC at Ayyankali Hall the other day. The mic’s voice disrupted while the chief minister was speaking. The cantonment police registered a suo moto case under the Kerala Police Act.

It is reported that the case has been filed under the section of knowingly doing an act that endangers public safety. The function was presided over by K Sudhakaran and several UDF leaders including opposition leader V D Satheesan and former opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala attended the function.

When the chief minister came to deliver his speech, some activists shouted slogans ‘Oommen Chandy Zindabad’ from the balcony of the hall. The chief minister watched patiently as they continued shouting slogans. The leaders on the dais and Oommen Chandy's son Chandy Oommen raised their hands and asked them to stop chanting it. The microphone malfunctioned minutes after the chief minister started his speech.
