KOCHI: Director Siddique's body buried at Ernakulam Central Juma Masjid. After the police paid the last respects at his home, the body was taken to Ernakulam Central Juma Masjid as a mourning procession. The burial took place in the cemetery after prayers. The beloved director of Malayalis passed away at Amrita Hospital last night at 9:02 am. He was 67 years old.
He was admitted to Amrita Hospital on July 10 due to pneumonia. Later his liver disease worsened. As his illness subsided five days ago, he was shifted from ICU. Preparations for a liver transplant were also started. The idea was to transplant his daughter's liver. Meanwhile, he had a heart attack on Monday and his condition worsened and was again shifted to the ICU. Kidney function also deteriorated. He was kept alive with the help of an ECMO ventilator and dialysis to support his heart and lungs.
Siddique is the second of eight children of late Haji Ismail Rauthar, who was an employee of the Muslim School in Ernakulam Market, and Zainaba, of Kuruppamveedu, Pullepady CP Ummer Road. Siddique married Sajitha, with whom he had three daughters, Sumaya, Sara, and Sukoon. Siblings: Salahuddin, Anwar, Sally, Zakir, Mutumma and Jasmine
