Woman dies after delivery at Thiruvananthapuram SAT Hospital; family alleges negligence

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Blaming medical negligence for a 32-year-old woman's death soon after delivery at Thiruvananthapuram SAT hospital, her family members lodged a complaint against the hospital authorities. Kollam Chadayamangalam native Aswathy (32) died soon after giving birth to a child. Police have registered a case for unnatural death in the woman's death. The hospital superintendent explained that the medical board will meet and investigate the complaint and take action.

Aswathy had first sought treatment at the Kottarakkara Taluk Hospital. On July 24, she was shifted to Thiruvananthapuram SAT Hospital as per the direction of the doctors. She gave birth to a baby boy via C-section on August 4. Following this, both the mother and child were shifted to the ward. The next day after the C-section, Aswathy underwent another emergency surgery after she complained of severe abdominal pain. Later, the woman succumbed to death. Later, she succumbed to death.

It was Aswathy's brother who lodged a complaint with the police. According to the police, the cause of death is not clearly mentioned in the post-mortem report. The samples of internal organs have been sent for testing. Meanwhile, Aswathy's child is under treatment at the hospital.
