kk

OTTAPALAM: The operator and worker of a poultry farm were arrested in the incident where an old woman died of an electric shock after coming into contact with an illegally installed power line to provide security to the poultry farm. Kanniyampuram native Sivadasan (58) and Assam native Abdul Ali (31) were arrested by the Ottapalam police. They have been booked under various non-bailable sections, including homicide.

Ottapalam Panamanna native Parukkutty (60) died of electric shock from the electric trap in the farm on Monday. The electric trap was set up to drive away wild boars and stray dogs. The KSEB Electrical Inspectorate found that the electricity was transmitted to the line from the connection in the farm. It was also found that the electric fence had been installed illegally. Normally, electricity to the fence is switched on at night and switched off in the morning. However, the farm employee forgot to switch off the electricity on the day of the incident, the police said.
