KODUNGALLUR: A woman, who was resting after undergoing a cesarian surgery at the Taluk hospital, died on Wednesday. Karthika (28), the wife of Chenthrapini native Ashamon died in Thrissur Medical College Hospital in the early hours of Wednesday. She gave birth to a baby girl on March 25th at Kodungallur Taluk Hospital.
Karthika felt unwell four days after the surgery. She underwent scanning on the ninth day. She was shifted to the Medical College Hospital after the scan report showed severe infection. A scan at the Medical College Hospital revealed that her condition was critical. Following this, she underwent surgery at the Mulagunnathukavu Medical College. However, her life could not be saved. According to the relatives, the doctors said that Karthika's internal organs, including the lungs, were affected by pus. Relatives and locals are alleging that medical negligence on the part of the hospital staff of the Kodungallur Taluk Hospital led to Karthika's death. The police have registered a case regarding the incident.
