AK 47 as wedding anniversary gift: Is it encouragement for Taliban rule asks BJP; former Trinamool leader in controversy

KOLKATA: Former Trinamool leader in controversy for gifting his wife an AK 47 gun on their wedding anniversary. Former regional leader of Trinamool Congress Riazul Haque is the one who gifted an AK 47 gun to his wife. BJP and CPM demanded an inquiry into the incident.

Last day, Riazul Haque had shared a picture of his wife Sabina Yasmin holding an AK 47 gun on his social media page. He also noted that it was a wedding anniversary gift. However, after the picture was shared, controversy arose in a big way and Riazul removed the pictures. He had clarified that his wife was holding a toy AK 47 gun and the allegations levelled against him were false.

BJP and CPM demand an inquiry into the gift. They want to find out where Riazul got the gun. "What message is he sending through this? Is this an encouragement to the Taliban regime," asked BJP district president Dhruba Saha.
