Two youths die after scooter rams into back of lorry parked in Pandalam

PATHANAMTHITTA: Two youths were killed when their scooter rammed behind a parked lorry. The incident happened last night at 11.30 pm on M C Road at Manthuka in Pandalam. The dead were identified as Vishnu and Vishwajith.

The scooter in which the three youths were travelling lost control and crashed into the back of a lorry laden with wood. Amaljith, who were one of the scooter passengers sustained serious injuries. He has been admitted to Vandanam Medical College. The locals said Manthuka in Pandalam is a constant danger zone. More than 150 people have died in accidents in the area in the last five years.


Meantime, a college teacher died after his scooter overturned at Valanchery in Malappuram. The dead is Prasad, a native of Pattambi in Palakkad. The accident took place near the Valancherry bypass Sunday morning. Prasad's scooter rammed into a shop. Prasad was taken to the hospital by the policemen who were patrolling the area. He died before reaching the hospital. He was a physics teacher at Majilis College of Arts and Sciences.
