PATHANAMTHITTA: The police are gearing up to close the case registered against K T Jaleel for describing Pakistan-occupied Kashmir as 'Azad Kashmir.' It was the Tiruvalla Judicial First Class Magistrate Court that directed the police to register a case against Jaleel on a petition filed by RSS District Prachar Pramukh Arun Mohan. Arun Mohan approached the court as the police did not take action even after he lodged a complaint at the police station. It was Keezhvaipur police that booked Jaleel on charges of inciting riots.

However, the police are claiming that the allegations raised against Jaleel in the case are baseless. The police issued a notice to the complainant stating that there was no evidence available to prove the allegations. The police also advised that the complainant could approach the court if he wanted.

Jaleel shared the controversial Facebook post while visiting Kashmir. In his Facebook post, he referred to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir as 'Azad Kashmir' and Kashmir as 'India-occupied Jammu and Kashmir'. His remarks soon courted controversy. The remarks had sparked protest in Kerala with the BJP demanding that a sedition case be registered against Jaleel.

‘The part of Kashmir annexed to Pakistan was known as 'Azad Kashmir' and it was an area where the Pakistan government does not have direct control,’ the post read. Following the controversy, Jaleel withdrew his Facebook post.
