Seniors sexually harass school students; Complaints ignored, widespread protests erupt

assault

PUNE: Students from Class 1 to Class 5 have reportedly been subjected to ragging and sexual harassment at Muktangan English School in Parvati, Pune. Concerned parents have filed a complaint.

The children, primarily boys, have allegedly faced sexual harassment from senior students in classes nine and ten. Parents of the victims lodged a complaint at the Parvati police station leading to a case being registered under the POCSO Act.

The police are currently working to identify the accused. A parent reported that senior students took his son to the bathroom and subjected him to ragging. Parents have stated that these incidents have been occurring for the past two months. Despite complaints to the school management, no action has been taken. In response, parents conducted protests within the school.

As of now, the school authorities have not provided any response to the incident. MNS activist Vikrant Amrale who led the protest against the school, has suggested implementing a security system within the school.
