P20 summit from today in Delhi, Canada won't take part

NEW DELHI: The summit of parliament speakers of the G20 member countries (P20) organized under the presidency of India will begin today in Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will perform the official inauguration today at 11 am. Canada's representative will not attend the summit amid ongoing diplomatic disputes.

The summit, which will be held at the Yasobhoomi India International Convention and Expo Centre on the Delhi border, will discuss topics such as Sustainable Development Goals, Sustainable Energy Transition, Women-led Development and Transforming Lives through Digital Platforms. The G20 summit in Delhi will be attended by speakers from member countries and invited countries, including the President of the Pan African Parliament, who will represent the African Union as a member of the G20 summit.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said climate change and impacts are deeply linked to the future of humanity in a discussion on Lifestyles for Environment held ahead of the summit. "Coping with climate change requires lifestyle changes beyond policies and laws. The issue of lifestyle for environment should be discussed in all parliaments.", he said. Rajya Sabha Deputy Speaker Harivansh, India's G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant, G20 Parliamentary Speakers and others also spoke.
