Migrant girl sexually assaulted in Perumbavoor; accused held

PERUMBAVOOR: A daughter of a migrant couple was sexually assaulted in Perumbavoor. The incident happened at Vadakkatupadi Plywood Factory at 5 pm last evening. The Kuruppampady police informed that the accused has been arrested.

The girl’s parents are working in the same plywood factory. She came with them. Another migrant worker working here sexually assaulted her. The police have not divulged more details of the accused. He has been taken into custody and is being grilled. He is interrogated based on the statement of the eyewitnesses who saw him sexually assaulting her.

A similar incident had happened in Perumbavoor last week. A native of Odisha had tried to abduct a child of a migrant couple. He tried to abduct the two-and-a-half-year-old-child when she was playing with her siblings. The locals caught the accused identified as Simachal Bishoy and handed him over to the police.

He tried to abduct the child Monday afternoon at 2.30 pm. However, when the other children created a ruckus, he snatched the mobile phone which was in her hand and tried to flee. Meanwhile, the locals hearing the noise caught him. On being informed, the Perumbavoor police arrived and arrested him.
