Friends star Matthew Perry alias Chandler Bing dies at 54

LOS ANGELES: Matthew Perry, who played one of the main characters in the superhit sitcom series 'Friends', has passed away. He was 54. International media reported that the actor was found dead yesterday at his home in Los Angeles.

Matthew Perry was found unconscious in a hot tub at his house. He played the role of 'Chandler Bing' in NBC's superhit comedy series Friends. Perry was best known for his portrayal of the wise-cracking Chandler Bing on the wildly popular Friends, which ran for 10 seasons from 1994 to 2004.

Reports said Mathew was addicted to painkillers and alcohol. He had sought treatment many times. He revealed at a recent co-star reunion that he was suffering from severe anxiety during the shooting of Friends. Apart from Friends, Matthew Perry also acted in films like Fools Rush In and The Whole Nine Yards. He was a bachelor.

Perry was born in Massachusetts in 1969, and was raised between Montreal and Los Angeles after his parents separated.

His mother was a Canadian journalist who served as press secretary to Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau. His father was a US actor.
