THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A 16-year-old-boy was stabbed during a dispute that broke out between students while playing football at Muthalapozhi beach in Perumathura. Anwar of Perumathura Valiya Vilakath House and a plus one student sustained injuries. He was stabbed on the neck and is being treated at the medical college hospital.
The police have started an investigation for the accused, a class 10 student. The incident happened at 5 pm last evening. When the dispute broke out, the accused took the beer bottle which was lying nearby, broke it and then stabbed him on his neck twice. Anwar was seriously injured and was shifted to the Chirayinkeezhu Taluk Hospital and then was shifted to the medical college. He will be subjected for an emergency surgery. A case has been registered by the Kadinamkulam police and the investigation has started.
Meantime, the Kadakkavoor police arrested a youth accused in several criminal cases and who is in the goonda list. The arrested is Abin Kumar (26) alias Kochambu of Chirayinkeezhu.
After receiving a complaint of breaking the door and equipment of the youth center in Parakunnu Colony, he escaped after breaking a beer bottle and creating an atmosphere of terror. He was arrested by the special investigation team of Kadakkavoor station.
He was on the run after the incident on October 19. He was arrested last night around 11 pm after surrounding his house when he tried to flee to Tamil Nadu with his dress and bag. He tried to attack the police but was apprehended.
Abin Kumar is accused in several cases like attempted murder, assault with weapons, violence against women, assault, molestation of minors, drug use in Kadakkavoor and Anchuthengu stations. He has also been jailed several times in these cases. It is common for the accused to commit crimes every time after being released on bail.
He was arrested for trespassing and destroying government property.
