Received warning from Apple; opposition leaders accuse Centre of attempting to hack their devices

NEW DELHI: Various opposition leaders have come out alleging that the Centre was trying to hack their phones and e-mail accounts. Congress leader Shashi Tharoor, Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra, Congress Working Committee member Pawan Khera, Shiv Sena (Uddhav faction) Rajya Sabha MP Priyanka Chaturvedi are the leaders who raised allegations against the Centre.

The leaders have shared the screenshot of the warning received on their Apple devices. It has been alleged that the phones of three officials of Rahul Gandhi's office were also hacked in this way. Many people received a warning message last night.

"Received text and email from Apple, warning me Government trying to hack into my phone and email. @HMOIndia- get a life...." Mahua Moitra wrote on X. She also stated that Shiv Sena MP Priyanka Chaturvedi and many other leaders of the INDIA front received similar warnings.

Congress leader Shashi Tharoor posted on X and said "Received from an Apple ID, threat-notifications@apple.com, which I have verified. Authenticity confirmed. Glad to keep underemployed officials busy at the expense of taxpayers like me! Nothing more important to do? @PMOIndia @INCIndia @kharge @RahulGandhi."
