THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Congress leader and Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor has responded to the legal notice sent by NDA candidate Rajeev Chandrasekhar on the cash-for-vote allegations levelled against him. In his reply, Tharoor pointed out that he did not say that the NDA candidate had paid money to the voters. Neither the name of Rajiv Chandrasekhar nor the name of the party was mentioned. Tharoor also stated that Rajeev Chandrasekhar was raising allegations either intentionally or due to misunderstanding.
Earlier, NDA leaders had lodged a complaint against Shashi Tharoor alleging that Tharoor had said in a channel interview that the NDA candidate was trying to influence the Christian community, including priests, and give money in the coastal region to get votes. Rajeev Chandrasekhar sent the legal notice yesterday after lodging a complaint with the Election Commission in this regard. Rajeev sent the legal notice asking Tharoor to withdraw his statement and tender an unconditional apology.
