ANGAMALY: A woman and a man were caught while smuggling drugs in a tourist bus operating on the Bengaluru-Kochi route. The said persons, Sajith (28), of Madeppadi in Mannam in North Paravur, and Siya (32), of Valiyaparambil in Pallithazham, were arrested with 50 grams of narcotic drug by the Rural District Anti-Narcotics Special Action Force and Angamali Police. Following a tip-off received by District Police Chief Vivek Kumar, Angamali stopped the vehicle in front of the KSRTC stand and checked it. The drug was hidden in a special compartment in a bag.
The drug was bought from Bengaluru's Madiwala for around Rs 4000 per gram. It was sold for four times the amount in Edapally and Kakkanad areas. The police said that there are indications that they have smuggled drugs in a similar way before. The duo had taken tickets to Edapally.
There is a ganja case against Sajith in Alappuzha. Narcotics Cell DySP PP Shams, Angamali Inspector P Lalkumar, SIs S Devika, Martin John, ASI MS Vijesh, Senior CPOs MR Mithun and Ajitha Thilakan are part of the investigation team.
