One killed, three injured in cylinder blast in Chennai

CHENNAI: One person was killed in a cylinder blast inside a ship in Chennai port. Three people were injured. The explosion was in an oil tanker docked at the port. The workers had used a gas cutter for some repair works near the engine of the ship from Odisha. The fire broke out from this.

The dead is 45-year-old Sahaya Thankaraj from Tondiarpet. He died on the spot itself. Joshua, Rajesh and Pushpalingam, who sustained injuries, have been admitted at the Government Medical College Hospital in Kilpauk.

The ship was brought from Odisha and docked near Chennai harbour for the repair works.
