AHMEDABAD: Virat Kohli's dismissal dealt a blow to India's aspirations in the World Cup final, with his exit at the hands of Pat Cummins having scored 54 runs off 63 balls. Kohli followed the departure of openers Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer.
Currently, at the crease are KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja, with India having accumulated 165 runs in 30 overs. While they managed a decent run rate early on, the successive loss of wickets is proving detrimental to India's prospects. Australia won the toss and opted to field first.
India's Playing XI consisted of Rohit Sharma as captain, alongside Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammad Siraj, Mohammad Shami and Jasprit Bumrah.
On the other side, Australia's lineup featured David Warner, Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh, Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, Glenn Maxwell, Josh Inglis as wicketkeeper, Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins as captain, Adam Zampa and Josh Hazlewood.
India totalled just 240 runs with Australian bowler Mitchell Starc taking three crucial wickets. Australia is expected to bat soon.
