Fake ID use in youth congress election; One more activist in custody, reports say information leaked from group

PATHANAMTHITTA: One more person has been taken into custody in the case of using forged election ID cards in the youth congress state election. The person taken into custody is Vikas Krishna of Pathanamthitta. Three were taken into custody the other day.

The three taken into custody are from Adoor in Pathanamthitta, the constituency of Youth Congress state president Rahul Mamkootathil. One of them is Abhi Vikram, former district secretary of Youth Congress of Pathanamthitta. Binin and Binu P are the other two. They are close to Rahul Mamkootathil. It is reported that they were caught due to group squabbles. There are reports that information has been leaked to the police from within the group itself. It is indicated that the move is to bring the investigation to Rahul. Interrogation of those in custody is continuing in the morning.

The investigation team had searched the houses of the leaders including Abhi Vikram in the case. Abhi Vikram's laptop and mobile phone have also been seized. It is suspected that fake identity cards were made using these. Abhi Vikram is presently an employee of Pathanamthitta District Cooperative Bank. The police started the investigation on the complaint given directly by the DYFI leaders. The investigation team had collected information from DYFI leaders A A Rahim MP, V K Sanoj and V Waseef.
