UAE announces public holidays for 2024, check here for details

ABU DHABI: Public holidays for the year 2024 have been announced in the UAE. The decision was taken in the Cabinet on Tuesday regarding the holidays applicable to both the public and private sectors. UAE residents will have 13 public holidays in 2024.

These holidays are in addition to the 30 leaves that employees can avail in a year. Four of the seven public holidays fall on weekends. And the longest break is six days. The details of public holidays have been released according to the Islamic calendar.

Next year's public holidays are as per below.

• January 1, 2024 (Monday) will be a public holiday as it is the New Year's Day.
• From Ramadan 29 to Shawwal 3 in the Hijri calendar, there will be three days off for Eid-ul-Fitr.
• Three days from Dhul Hijjah 9 (Arafah Day) will be off for Eid Al Adha.
• Muharram 1 is a public holiday.
• Rabi Al Awwal 12 will be a public holiday on the occasion of Prophet's Day.
• December 2- the UAE National Day will also be a holiday.
