KANPUR: In a ghastly incident, a man killed his son for switching off the TV while watching the final match between India and Australia. The incident happened in Uttar Pradesh. The police nabbed Ganesh Prasad, who killed his son Deepak by strangling him with the charger of a mobile phone, from Kanpur.
Deepak demanded food when Prasad was watching TV. He then switched off the TV after asking him to make dinner first. His father was drunk and a dispute broke out between the two.
In a fit of rage, he took the cable of the mobile phone and strangled his son with that. Ganesh fled the place after making sure that he has died.
A relative saw the body of Deepak. On being informed, the police reached the spot. Police said that a dispute over watching TV is behind the drastic step. The body has been sent for post-mortem.
Assistant commissioner Brij Narayan Singh in charge of Chakeri Police said the two used to consume liquor together regularly and engages into a dispute also. Deepak had attacked his mother last week and so she had left the house.
