KALPETTA: While the Chief Minister and other ministers are scheduled to participate in the Nava Kerala Sadas in Wayanad today, the District Collectorate has received a threatening letter in the name of Maoists. The letter stated that the Nava Kerala Sadas will be hindered in the district and the Chief Minister will be taught a lesson. Two letters were received on Tuesday morning
The letters have been handed over to District Police chief Padam Singh. Police have launched an investigation. Police have not confirmed whether the letters were sent by Maoists. According to the police, the letters contained sentences that were quite different from those sent earlier by the Maoists.
Heavy security has been arranged at all the 3 venues of Nava Kerala Sadas in the district in the context of the threatening letter. Security has been beefed up at the hotels in which the ministers are staying and at places, including Chandragiri Auditorium.
Earlier, the police were directed to beef up the security in the district in the wake of the encounter that took place between the police and the Maoists in Chapparam near Periya.
