Sexually abused woman who sought legal help in sexual abuse case; case registered against government pleader

KOCHI: The Chottanikkara police have registered a case against senior government pleader Adv PG Manu for allegedly sexually abusing a young woman who had come to his office seeking legal help in a sexual abuse case. The incident related to the case happened in October. The case was registered on the complaint lodged by the woman with the Ernakulam Rural SP.

The woman had come to the government pleader's office seeking legal help in a sexual abuse case registered in 2000. She met the lawyer as directed by the police. According to the woman's statement to the police, Adv Manu called her to his office and sexually abused her after promising to provide legal assistance in the case. According to the complaint, he even went to the woman's house and tortured her.
