KANNUR: The excise has taken into custody a woman of Kannur Mullakkodi with 1.6 kilograms of ganja kept for sale. The woman identified as Nikhila aged 29 was arrested in the raid led by Thaliparambu excise circle inspector K K Shijil. Known as bullet lady in her hometown, she had travelled a lot. It is suspected that she may have used these connections for cannabis transactions. She was produced in the court and remanded.
Preventive officers P R Sajeev and Ashraf Malapattam, civil excise officers P R Vineeth and P Sooraj, female civil excise officer Rathika A V (Payyannur Range) and driver Ajith were in the excise team.
An accused was arrested after seizing 665 litres of wash and 50 litres of illicit arrack from Chadayamangalam in Kollam. The excise recovered 665 litres of wash, 50 litres of arrack and some brewing equipment from the bedroom of Ansari, a native of Mangode. He used to brew arrack after mixing with different kinds of fruits and ayurvedic medicines and sell it in the border areas of Kollam after taking them in his scooter.
