NEW DELHI: Saudi Hajj and Umrah Minister Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah has announced that more direct flights between India and Saudi Arabia will be started. This was announced in a press conference jointly held by the Saudi Minister who arrived in India, Minority Affairs Minister Smriti Irani and Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan.
The Hajj Minister also announced that visa procedures for pilgrims from India will be eased. More direct flights will be launched between India and Saudi Arabia for the smooth journey of Umrah pilgrims. He clarified that low-cost flight services are also under consideration.
Smriti Irani thanked Saudi Arabia for its support to Hajj pilgrims in India. The Saudi Hajj Minister came to India on an official visit. It is reported that discussions will be held to strengthen mutual cooperation between the two countries. The minister's visit is expected to facilitate and improve visa procedures for those travelling to Makkah and Madinah.
