BENGALURU: The consumer court directed Flipkart to pay Rs 20,000 compensation to a woman for selling a shampoo above its maximum retail price (MRP). Soumya, a resident of Guttahalli in Bengaluru, filed a complaint against Flipkart in the consumer court for charging Rs 190 for a shampoo with an MRP of Rs 96.

The incident related to the case took place in October 2019. The shampoo was put on offer by the Flipkart as part 'Big Billion Days Sale'.

On October 3, the woman had paid Rs 190 for the shampoo through PhonePe. After getting shampoo, she realized that the shampoo's original price was way less. In order to clear her doubt, Soumya checked the app again and saw that the shampoo's price is listed as Rs 140 with a shipping charge of Rs 99.

Following this, the woman contacted Flipkart customer caren. She was informed by the customer care that shampoo can be returned for a refund. However, Flipkart did not take any action against the seller, HBK Enterprise from Surat, even after her complaint. In a similar complaint, a woman from Shanti Nagar also came forward with a complaint against HBK Enterprise and Flipkart.
