Defamatory remarks against MV Govindan; setback for Swapna Suresh, High Court rejects plea

KOCHI: The Kerala High Court has rejected the plea filed by Swapna Suresh asking the court to direct the police to question her in Kochi in connection with the case regarding the defamatory remarks made by her against the CPM state secretary.

Justice PV Kunhikrishnan, who said that Swapna should appear before the investigation officer, added that the investigating officer cannot go after the accused. Earlier, the police had issued a notice to Swapna asking her to appear for questioning in Taliparamba in Kannur. Swapna moved the court against this pointing out that she had received threats from Kannur. The court said that Swapna should inform the investigation officer if she had any complaints. The court also said that the police should necessary action on the complaint.
