THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Police have registered a case against the party leaders based on the incidents following the Congress DGP office march on Saturday. In the case registered by the museum police under non-bailable section, the main accused is KPCC chairman K Sudhakaran. Apart from Sudhakaran, all the main leaders of the party, including opposition leader VD Satheesan and MP Shashi Tharoor, have been named as accused in the case. A case has been filed against around 500 identifiable people.
A case has been filed under the non-bailable section including assaulting the police, destroying fluxes and creating conflict. KPCC marched to the DGP office to protest against the police and CPM attack on the KSU and Youth Congress workers. The protest march was inaugurated by KPCC president K Sudhakaran.
The activists tried to climb over the barricade while Leader of the Opposition VD Satheesan was speaking. After this, the police used water cannons and tear gas. Women leaders also pelted stones at the police.
The tear gas cans fell behind the stage where the Congress leaders were speaking. VD Satheesan ended his speech halfway through. K Sudhakaran was shifted to the hospital due to physical illness. Senior Congress leaders were shifted from the spot by the activists. The leaders alleged that the police action was without any provocation.
