Family opens door to see leopard attacking their dog; village in Kannur where wild animal attacks are rampant

KANNUR: The forest department has confirmed that it was a leopard that attacked the pet dog that was sleeping at home. The leopard attacked the pet dog of Gopi of Puthenpurackal house, Aatayoli hill near Vanipara, Ayyankunnu Panchayath, Kannur.

The forest department confirmed that it was a leopard after checking the information collected from the family members and the footprints of the leopard from the area. After identifying that it is a leopard, the forest department officials have started to install cameras and take steps to catch it.

The incident happened around 12 pm on Sunday. The dog made noise when it was attacked by the leopard. When the family came out, they saw the leopard biting the dog's neck. The leopard ran away from here when the family screamed and made noise.

The dog was bitten on the neck and suffered serious injuries. Locals say that wild animal attacks are severe in the forest border of Ayyankunn panchayat.
