Actress Parvathy Thiruvothu has responded to the incident where the film 'Annapoorani' starring Nayanthara was removed from Netflix. The actress stated that a dangerous precedent was being set. She also wrote in her Instagram story that if cinema gets censored in this manner, there will be a time when people won't be allowed to even breathe.
'Annapoorani' was removed from Netflix after Hindu outfits protested against the film. The film, produced by Zee Studios, Naad Sstudios and Trident Arts, was directed by Nilesh Krishnaa. Former Shiv Sena leader Ramesh Solanki had lodged a complaint against the producers accusing them of hurting the religious sentiments of Hindus. He wrote in X that the film was anti-Hindu and the scene where Lord Ram was shown eating meat hurt religious sentiments.
Following the controversy, Zee Studios issued a press release apologising for hurting the religious sentiments of Hindus. 'Annapoorani' which was released in theatres on December 1, was streamed on Netflix on December 29. The film was removed from Netflix yesterday.
