NEW DELHI: In connection with the Prana Pratishta ceremony in Ayodhya, the central government has announced a holiday for all central government offices on January 22. Union Minister Jitendra Singh announced that the holiday will be till noon on January 22. The half-day holiday was allowed for people to watch the live telecast of the event.
Apart from the central government, some state governments have also given leave to employees. Educational institutions in Uttar Pradesh have also declared a holiday on January 22. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has declared a public holiday for all government offices and schools in Madhya Pradesh. The Chief Minister has also ordered the closure of liquor and meat shops in the state.
Chhattisgarh will also observe a holiday on January 22.
According to the government, the move was made after the ministry received many requests from officials asking for time to watch the consecration ceremony live on television.
