Governor commends Nikhil by seeing Kerala Kaumudi news, offers support and encouragement

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: 18-year-old Nikhil, a plus two student at St. Thomas Higher Secondary School, has become a source of inspiration for the new generation earning praise as the pride of the country.

Nikhil, taking care of his 16-year-old brother Appu diagnosed with autism and his mother Sheeba who battles Parkinson's drew attention after a feature in Kerala Kaumudi on Saturday. The Governor, deeply moved by Nikhil's story summoned him to Raj Bhavan.

Governor Khan, in a heartfelt meeting expressed appreciation for Nikhil's selfless commitment. Moved to tears, Nikhil received an open invitation from the Governor to visit Raj Bhavan anytime for any purpose.

Nikhil shared insights into his routine, which includes not only managing studies but also attending to his brother's needs and caring for his ailing mother. The Governor, keenly interested inquired about Nikhil's studies and his secret to maintaining a positive outlook.

Sweets and tea were served during the three-and-a-half-hour conversation where Nikhil's mother expressed gratitude, considering her son a blessing. The Governor, recognizing their challenges, gifted Sheeba a saree and Nikhil and Appu shirts and pants.

Nikhil received good luck wishes for his upcoming Plus Two practical exam on Monday. The Governor, acknowledging Nikhil's aspirations promised support for smart studying and encouraged him to visit in Bengaluru. Financial assistance for education was assured, including Chef Suresh Pillai offering internships and studies in the chef course at the Institute of Hotel Management, Bengaluru.

The school management, deeply moved by Nikhil's dedication announced a fee waiver and comprehensive support for his future studies. Nikhil and his family expressed gratitude to Kerala Kaumudi for bringing their story to the mainstream.
