NEDUMKANDAM: Upholding the vigilance finding that Mathew Kuzhalnadan MLA had encroached on government land, the Udumbanchola Land Revenue Tehsildar submitted a report to the District Collector. The revenue department has found that the land on which Mathew Kuzhalnad's Capithans Resort was built in Chinnakanal includes government land also.

There is 50 cents on land more land than what is mentioned in the documents. The government land was discovered when the village surveyor measured the area. The Vigilance preliminary investigation had found that the land mutation process was carried out by concealing the fact that there was a surplus land case on the legally owned one acre and 20 cents of land.
Vigilance found that the MLA built a wall by encroaching on 50 cents of government land and evaded taxes by hiding the 1,000-square-foot building that was there when the land was purchased.

Mathew Kuzhalnadan's resort is located on the land involved in the 2008 surplus land case. This property cannot be sold. The Tehsildar has now submitted a report to the District Collector asking him to suggest what action should be taken in respect of the excess land occupied. Vigilance had also stated earlier that it would recommend to take back the land. Kuzhalnadan's position is that he does not know if he has more land than what is mentioned in the document and if there is more, let them measure it and take action.
