Man dies in road accident on eve of son's wedding

KOTTARAKKARA: A man died after his scooter hit a car on the eve of his son's wedding. The deceased has been identified as O Thankachan (62) of Tinu Bhavan in Mampuzha, near Mercy Hospital in Valakom.

The unexpected demise of Thankachan occurred with his son Tinu Thankachan scheduled to get married at Valakam St. Gregorio's Orthodox Church at 12 pm on Monday . The accident happened near Valakom Govt. LP School on MC Road on Sunday at 4 pm. He was coming home from Valakom Junction on a scooter with his wife Saramma Thankachan when the following car overtook him and hit the scooter.

The two were seriously injured and immediately rushed to a private hospital in Kottarakkara, but Thankachan died. Saramma Thankachan was shifted to a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram with fractures on both legs. The family living in Mumbai had come home for their son's wedding. Daughter: Tittu Thangachan.

Kottarakkara police has registered a case in the incident.
