Activists threaten to barge into Congress leader's house and hack him; provocation made after losing panchayat administration

PALAKKAD: After losing administration in Koppam panchayat, a group of Congress workers raised provocative slogans against a Congress panchayat member. The activists threatened to enter the house of the Congress leader and kill him. The incident took place after the Congress lost administration in Koppam panchayat in Palakkad.

Provocative slogans were raised against Congress leader Shafeeq, who voted in favour of the LDF in the no-confidence motion. The no-confidence motion brought by the LDF against the governing council was passed by nine votes to seven.

UDF and LDF have eight members each and BJP has one member in the 17-member panchayat. The UDF lost power after Shafeeq voted in favour of the LDF in today's no-confidence vote. The BJP member abstained from voting.

The LDF moved a no-confidence motion against the panchayat president alleging that he was ruling by aligning with the BJP. Earlier, the UDF won the administration here by drawing lots.
