MUTHANGA: Two travellers, who tried to record the visuals of wild elephants after getting down on the National Highway 766 Muthanga Bandipur Forest Road, had a narrow escape from the attack of the wild elephants.
The video footage of a wild elephant running towards the passengers and a person falling while running for life went viral on social media. The video was captured and posted on social media by Thalappuzha Kannothumala native Savad, who came this way in another car. Savad recorded the video sitting in his car while he was on his way to Ootty with his family.
The incident happened in the forest area of Karnataka on the Bandipur border. Two people got out of the car and tried to capture the visuals of the wild elephants. There were three elephants, including a baby elephant. While the travellers were recording the video, the female elephant rushed towards them. When the two men tried to run back to the car, one of them fell down. Although their car was moving forward slowly, both of them could not open the door and get inside. By then, the elephant reached near them. Although the elephant tried to hit the fallen man with its trunk and legs, he escaped by rolling over. Luckily, the attention of the elephant soon got diverted as a lorry came that way. The video also shows the fallen person running to safety. The travellers are believed to be natives of Andhra Pradesh.
Savad said that he recorded the video and posted it on social media to convey the message that such acts done by some people can put themselves and others in danger.
