LUCKNOW: An official of the Ministry of External Affairs who was working as an agent of Pakistan's spy agency Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) has been arrested. Satyendra Siwal, who worked at the Indian Embassy in Moscow, was arrested. He was nabbed from Meerut during a special investigation by the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS).
Satyendra Siwal was working as India Based Security Assistant (IBSA) at the Embassy in Moscow since 2021. UP ATS took action after receiving secret information that he was spying for the ISI. Siwal initially did not cooperate with the interrogation but later confessed to the crime.
He admitted that he used to leak information about the Indian Army and its operations. The UP ATS also found that ISI was paying for information leaks. It is also reported that Satyendra Siwal handed over secret information related to the Indian Embassy, Ministry of Defense and Ministry of External Affairs to the ISI team. A case of sedition and fraud has been registered against him.
