Liquor prices set to surge: Minister KN Balagopal announces hike of Rs 10 per litre

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Finance Minister KN Balagopal said in the budget speech that the price of liquor will increase in the state. An increase of ten rupees per litre. Excise duty on foreign liquor made in India has been increased by Rs 10 per litre. He also said that 200 crore rupees will be collected in galvanization fee.

The law allows imposition of galvanization fee of up to Rs 30 per litre on Indian-made foreign liquor sold in the state. That is now fixed at Rs 10 per litre. The minister informed that an income of Rs 200 crore is expected through this. The Finance Minister ended his budget speech a short time ago.
