THRISSUR: Excise Crime Branch Assistant Commissioner T M Maju, who investigated the Sheela Sunny fraud drug case was transferred on Thursday. He was promoted to the Military Canteen in Thiruvananthapuram as Deputy Excise Commissioner.
To replace Maju, it is reported that Kozhikode Excise Intelligence Asst. Commissioner M. Sugunan will take up the investigation. However, it is not known when the new officer will take charge. Maju’s transfer comes at a time when the decision was made to arrest Narayana Das, a native of Tripunithura who is doubted to have implicated Sheela in the drug case.
Meanwhile, Narayana Das did not appear before the Excise on Thursday. He was asked to appear before the Excise at 11 am on Thursday.
Narayana Das was earlier accused in honey trap cases. It was Das who first informed Irinjalakuda excise about spotting an LSD stamp in Sheela’s bag and scooter. It is doubted that Das trapped Sheela at the behest of someone else. Police are hopeful of unearthing the mystery after taking Das into custody.
