Woman set on fire by neighbour succumbs to injuries in Idukki

IDUKKI: A woman set on fire by her neighbour at Udumbanchola has succumbed to her injuries. She has been identified as Parakkal Sheela. She died Monday morning while undergoing treatment for burns at Theni Medical College. Her neighbour Shashi attacked her last Friday.

When she was working in the cardamom plantation, the accused caught her brought her home, locked her inside and then set her ablaze. On being informed by the locals, the police came, broke opened the door and shifted her to the hospital.

She sustained 60% burns in the attack. She was first admitted at a private hospital and later to Theni Medical College. The accused also sustained injuries. The body will be handed over to her relatives after post-mortem.
