KOZHIKODE: Poet and lyricist Kaithapram Damodaran Namboothiri took a dig at Kerala Sahitya Academy president K Satchidanandan. He told a media that Satchidanandan is trying to instigate communalism through poetry.

‘There is an incident of criticizing Thampy Chettan, I will tell the solution for that. I saw a poem written by Satchidanan five-eight years ago. The legs sticking out of the long coffin, which Radha recognized as Krishna because it was blue... I have never read such a disgusting poem in my life. A programme to instigate people and cut off their hands and feet. Kaithapram said give this poem for Kerala song.

I am saying to give it and find a solution. Why is he taking someone else's poem? Just take his poem. Thamby Chettan had never said that he will write the lyrics. He writes songs if money is given. There was no need to call him and insult him like this. Give this poem and find a solution. I have no hostility towards Saji Cherian. I personally like him. Satchidanand should not have been made the president. People like him should be thrown out and if thrown will become good. He is not my president, I am also a writer,’ said Kaithapram.

Sreekumaran Thampi had earlier alleged that he was insulted after asking him to write a Kerala song for the government. Academy president K Satchidanandan and secretary Aboobacker asked to write the song. The two later asked him to rewrite the song. They did not inform him whether the song rewritten was accepted or not. Later saw an advertisement inviting Kerala songs from poets.
