DUBAI: Dubai International Airport achieved a remarkable milestone in 2023, with a record-breaking 8.70 million passengers passing through its gates. This number represents a significant increase of 31.7 percent compared to the previous year.

The majority of travelers chose Indian airports as their destination, solidifying Dubai's position as the world's busiest airport. The sheer volume of passengers surpasses the populations of many countries worldwide.

In total, 416,405 flights arrived and departed from Dubai Airport last year facilitating seamless travel for millions of passengers. An astounding 77.5 million baggage items were handled with an impressive accuracy rate of 99.8 percent ensuring passengers received their belongings promptly.

Dubai Airport's efficiency is evident in its handling of baggage at a rate of two bags per second. Following India, Saudi Arabia and the UK received the most flights from Dubai with London's Heathrow Airport welcoming the largest number of passengers at 3.7 million. Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, followed closely with 2.6 million passengers, while Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport ranked third with 2.5 million passengers flying from Dubai.
