KOZHIKODE: The statement of the accused Abhilash is that personal enmity was behind the murder of CPM Koilandi Central Local Committee Secretary PV Satyanathan. The accused told the police that the party did not resist many incidents of violence against him, so he attacked Satyanathan out of enmity.

A knife used for stabbing was found near the exact spot, and the police also recovered the weapon used in the murder. Sathyanathan's body had three significant wounds, with the preliminary conclusion of the post-mortem report indicating that the deep wound on his neck was the cause of death.

The murder occurred at 10 o'clock last night during the song festival of Koilandi Peruvattur Cheripuram temple festival. Abhilash attacked Satyanathan in the presence of hundreds of devotees and locals who had gathered to listen to the songs. Abhilash, a neighbor and former member of the CPM branch committee, stated to the police that Sathyanathan was killed due to personal enmity, with no involvement from anyone else.
