Ernakulam consumer forum orders compensation for faulty Samsung refrigerator

KOCHI: Ernakulam District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum ruled that the refrigerator, which failed to work several times, was deemed to have a manufacturing problem and should be compensated. The Samsung refrigerator purchased by Mithun, a resident of Ernakulam Cherai, failed to resolve the problem despite efforts. The order of the court is based on the complaint filed by Mithun against the company Cool Care Refrigeration in Paravur.

The Samsung refrigerator purchased by the complainant broke down several times and each time the technician checked and replaced various components of the fridge and charged the complainant for the same. Still the refrigerator stopped working. The order is that the complainant should be compensated for the continuous damage as a defect in the construction. The commission president DB Binu members Vaikom Ramachandran and TN Srividya ordered that the opposite party should pay Rs. 3,386 for repairs and Rs.25,000 as compensation to the complainant within one month.
