Indian strikes gold in Dubai Duty-Free draw, winning Rs 6.5 crore

ABU DHABI: Good luck again in search of an Indian in the Dubai Duty-Free draw. Sunil Nayyar, an Indian living in Abu Dhabi, has received a prize of six and a half crore rupees. Sunil's luck came in the Duty-Free Millennium Millionaire draw held after the Dubai Duty-Free Tennis Championship men's final prize-giving ceremony on Saturday evening, March 2.

France's number five tennis player and tournament champion Hugo Humbert drew the winning ticket. The prize was awarded for ticket 0971 of the 452nd series. 39-year-old Sunil has been in the UAE for a few years now. The ticket was bought on February 21. Sunil works as a senior consultant in an insurance company.

Sunil responded that he never expected luck to come to him. 'Thank you Dubai Duty Free. I have been participating in the Dubai Duty-Free draw for the past few years and was hoping to get the prize. Finally it happened'- said Sunil.

He said that the gift money will be spent on his son's education. Son is currently studying an aerospace course in the UK. "I will soon think about retirement," he said. Sunil, a native of Delhi, is the 225th Indian to win a prize in the Dubai Duty-Free draw. Dubai Duty-Free lottery started in 1999. Since then Indians have been holding the highest number of tickets. Indians also win the most prizes.
