KOLLEMCODE: A man has been arrested in a case of extorting Rs 10,01,000 from a housewife in Palakkad. The culprit tricked the housewife with the promise of huge money in return for review rating on Google Maps. Palakkad cyber crime police arrested Koduvayur native Saidas (34) in the crime.
The fraudsters behind the crime have opened accounts in several banks under the guise of fake business firms. It is doubted that a transaction of Rs 3 crore happened in the two accounts created by the culprit in recent days. On the complaint of the housewife, the Palakkad cyber police, who registered a case and investigated, analyzed the bank accounts used by the fraudsters and finally zeroed in on the culprit after learning about the fake business firm created.
In case of cyber fraud, the complaint should be registered immediately by calling the toll-free number 1930 or on the website www.cybercrime.gov.in.
