'They called me 'black monkey', threw stones at me'; Ivory Coast player who was beaten up during football tournament lodges complaint

MALAPPURAM: Ivory Coast player Hasan Jr, who was beaten up by the spectators during a football match in Areekode in Malappuram, has lodged a complaint with the police. Hasan Jr. said the crowd hurled racial slurs at him. Hasan, who submitted the complaint to the District Police Chief, also presented the video footage of the conflict.

As per the complaint, the crowd tried to provoke Hasan by calling him a 'black monkey' and some people threw stones at him. He said that the crowd turned into groups and beat him up when he questioned them. He added that he is afraid to play in Kerala. Hasan said that he would also lodge a complaint with the Ivory Coast Embassy in the incident.

The incident took place during a football match held last Sunday at Chemrakkattur in Areekode in Malappuram. The footballer was attacked for allegedly misbehaving with the spectators. The football tournament was organized by a local association called Town Team Chemrakkattur.
