MALAPPURAM: Four people are confirmed with Marsh Fever (Malaria) in Malappuram. The disease is confirmed on one in Nilambur and three in Ponnani. Out of 1200 blood samples tested in Ponnani, three women were confirmed of the disease. A migrant labourer from Orissa in Nilambur was confirmed of malaria.

Malaria

Malaria spreads through mosquitoes. It can also be transmitted by receiving the blood of an infected person. Malaria is caused by single-celled parasites belonging to the genus Plasmodium. Plasmodium vivax and Pladium falcipadam are responsible for malaria in the country.

Malaria germs enter the human body through the mosquito's salivary glands. The bacteria then enter the liver and show symptoms after a week. So be careful not to get bitten by mosquitoes. As it rains, be careful against mosquito-borne diseases including malaria.

Symptoms include high fever, shivering, muscle aches, nausea, vomiting, and yellowing of the skin and eyes. A blood test can diagnose the disease. Malaria blood test and treatment is free in government hospitals.
