Kerala to witness excruciating summer heat, rainfall likely in Thiruvananthapuram

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian meteorological department has warned about more blistering hot days in Kerala. From today till March 20, the maximum temperature in Palakkad and Kollam districts is likely to rise to 39 degrees Celsius. In Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha and Kottayam districts, the maximum temperature is likely to rise to 37 degrees Celsius and in Thrissur and Kozhikode districts, the maximum temperature may rise to 36 degrees Celsius (2-4 degrees Celsius above normal).

Due to high temperature and humid air, most parts of Kerala excluding the hilltop region will suffer the excruciating summer heat which is said to stay until March 20th. The Meteorological Department has also issued a yellow alert in these districts.

On the other side, IMD also revealed chances of a slight downpour on the 21st and 22nd of this month. Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam and Thrissur districts may receive short rainfall on Sunday. Rain is forecast for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Pathanamthitta districts on March 20 and Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam and Thrissur districts on March 21.
